NECA and the IBEW are committed to the concept of making our work force as safe and as productive as possible and we recognize that a drug-free work place is needed now.

All newly negotiated contracts will include the Substance Abuse Language, which is the Category I Language that must be inserted. The NECA Chapter and the Local IBEW will develop their own programs. If a Union  Electrician does not avail himself or herself to the newly negotiated stipulation, then Employment will be refused when a contractor requests a drug-free electrician.

At his time, the NECA Chapter and Local 25, IBEW have included the Enabling Language in our contracts. A program is being implemented to ensure that Long Island will maintain a substance abuse-free work place.
